After beating Ivan Ljubicic and Tommy Robredo, Marcos managed to reach the semi-final of the BNP Paribas. In the semi he played world no 2 Rafael Nadal. After playing amazing tennis, Marcos won the first set 6-4. In the second he was up 3-1, however his strength ran out and lost it 6-4. He lost the 3rd set quite easily 6-3. Final result was Baghdatis 1 - Nadal 2. In the final, Nadal lost to David Nalbadian in 2 straight sets.(6-4,6-0) A breathtaking perfomance by the Arentine!

Marcos has entered the BNP Paribas Masters in France! He has already played Juan Carlos Ferrero. Marcos won easily, 2-0 sets. In the second round he will play Ivan Ljubicic (no 15).

Marcos has won Mathieu earlier today 2-o sets! The first set was quite easy for Marcos he managed to break his oponents serve twice!(6-2) However the things got harder in the second set, he won it in the tie break 7-5. In the semi-final Marcos will play Nieminem. Jarko Nieminem is currently ranked no 29 in the ATP. In the quarter finals, Nieminem won Fernando Gonzalez. (no8)

Marcos won Agustin Calleri last night, 2-1 sets (6-7, 6-3, 6-3). In the quarter finals he will play Paul-Henri Mathieu. The Frenchman is currently ranked no 21 in the ATP and in the tournament he is seeded no 8!

For about three weeks Marcos has vanished from the tennis circuit. He has also dropped to no21 in the rankings! I dont think he has any chance for the masters.

Marcos: Yes, it was tough and I played well. What was important was I won and went to the 2nd round. The next few days I will work harder and be stronger. If I was still not doing my best, I would not go farther.

In the first round of the China Open Marcos Baghdatis faced Zeng, Shao Xuan. Marcos won the match 2-0 sets (7-6, 7-5). In the second round Marcos claimed the victory against Boris Pashanski. The score was 2-0 sets(6-4, 6-4) to Marcos! Marcos is now in the quarter final where he will play Ivan Ljubicic!

The tournament gives the winner the sum of $500,000.In 2005 Nadal won this tournament and in 2006 so did Marcos. In the final he played Mario Ancic. The final score was 2-0 sets to Marcos.

Marcos Baghdatis went up against Max Mirnyi in a First Round match at the 2007 US open. He lost the first set 6-3, he fought hard in the 2nd set but lost 7-5. In the 3rd set Marcos showed signs of recovery since he won the set 3-6. In the final set, when the score was 6-6, everybody thought Marcos would equalize, but unfortunately he lost 7-6. The final score of the match was 3-2 to Mirnyi after a three-hour-eight-minute battle.

"I love playing here and it is great playing here, but when you lose everything is so bad. But it was a great match today, great atmosphere. I had fun on the court, really. At the end the crowd was good, but then I lost", Marcos said after the match.
